The major ingredient is apalbumin-1 dosed at 2.5% in Arkoroyal®* royal jelly. It is beneficial for bees thanks to its nutritive and antibacterial properties.
Royal jelly contains at least 100 times more apalbumin than honey. Fed exclusively with honey, a larva becomes a bee. On the other hand fed with royal jelly, the larva becomes queen and will live up to 40 times longer than its congeners. If royal jelly was already consumed in all ancient civilizations, its properties have only been identified for a few decades.
