Arnica montana is the scientific name for Mountain Arnica, a perennial plant from Europe, also known as Alpine Plantain. It is used in traditional medicine.
To develop Arnica montana 9 CH, the plant was mixed with a solvent to obtain a mother tincture. This will then have been diluted to 9 CH, which means that it will have undergone 9 dilutions to the hundredth. They are called Hahnemann Centesimals. The name of these dilutions is a reference to the physician Samuel Hahnemann, considered the founder of homeopathy at the end of the 18th century.
The mother tincture thus diluted was used to impregnate globules. Each Boiron single dose contains approximately 200. These globules are also composed of two excipients: sucrose and lactose.
