Stage I: Weeks 1 to 6: Use 1 or 2 sprays at the usual times of tobacco consumption or in the event of an irresistible urge to smoke. If the urge persists a few minutes after one spray, use a second spray. If 2 sprays are required, subsequent doses may consist of 2 consecutive sprays. Most smokers should use 1 or 2 sprays every 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Stage II: Weeks 7-9: Begin to reduce the daily number of sprays. At the end of Week 9, the average number of sprays per day should be HALF that of Stage I.
Stage III: Weeks 10-12: Continue to reduce the daily number of sprays to a maximum of 4 sprays per day by Week 12. When subjects are no longer using 2-4 sprays per day, they may stop using the mouth spray.
During the treatment it is essential to abstain from smoking. It is possible to take a maximum of 4 sprays per hour. Do not exceed 2 sprays per dose and do not exceed 64 sprays (4 sprays per hour, for 16 hours) per 24 hour period.
